Heard Museum

Heard Museum is where you can discover the Worlds of Native America. It is located at 2301 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix, Ariz. and was founded in 1929 by Dwight B. and Maie Bartlett Heard to house their personal collection including Native American aritfacts and art.

From the Central Courtyard below is the entrance to the Kitchell Gallery which contains an introduction to Native American art.

The two figures below are to the right of the entrance to the Steele Auditorium and at the corner of the central courtyard.

Below is a small courtyard just to the right of the entrance above which is named for the Hon. and Mrs. John Pritzlaff.

This is one of the numerous pots which are on exhibit at this museum.

Another picture of some of the tools of an Native American tribe.

This was my favorite quilt of the many on exhibit in the Compass Gallery. The squaw's head at the right is barely visible at the far left upper corner of the large star in the center of the quilt. The creator of this quilt has won many prizes with this creation as well as some of her others.
