Arriving in Picton we boarded a bus and went to the Montana winery (just outside of Blenheim) in the Marlborough region for a tour and lunch in their lovely showroom.

Montana Vineyards

Thr trip to the vineyard took us past many beautiful fields of grapes. Upon our arrival we were shown a video about the vineyard, given a short tour and then ushered into the tasting room for a sample of some of their wines.

During the video we learned why roses were planted at the end of each row of grape vines. The roses attrack the bees which help to pollinate the grapes. Since this was Spring the roses were in full bloom.

rosesLunch in their showroom was quite pleasant and of course, included more samples of their lovely wines. After lunch and some time in their gift shop, we returned to the bus for a short ride to an absolutely fantastic World War I military museum.
